Dan and Emily were married on October 19th, with a ceremony and reception at the Mayernik Center.
Dan proposed to Emily at her family’s cabin in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. It had always been a special place for them. The cabin was a relaxing place where they could spend weekends and vacations in both the summer and the fall. This time around, Emily and Dan spent most of the day in the nearby small town before they went back to the cabin. When they were outside by the creek, Dan seized the moment and got down on one knee! It was such a special, intimate moment just for the two of them. What a beautiful memory to cherish in a place where so many more memories can be made through the years!
When I met up with Emily and Dan, I knew right away that Emily and I were going to get along. After all, she was a huge fan of Halloween, and to have her wedding right around that time of year? We were so in sync. Plus, everyone in the wedding party had the most adorable socks and converse shoes at the wedding. Even Emily’s “mom of honor.” Who doesn’t love that?
I always love when I get couples who are willing to be themselves and to be comfortable with who they are, and that’s what I got with these two. They knew what they wanted, they knew how to have fun, and they knew how to run with anything that came up! Their venue, the Mayernik Center was an ideal choice for an October wedding, too. Even though it’s only 10 miles from downtown Pittsburgh, this gorgeous wedding venue is its own little oasis from busy city life. I loved how their engagement at a rustic cabin was echoed in their wedding reception. We even took wedding portraits down by the creek. It was such a picturesque backdrop for this happy couple.
Emily & Dan, thank you again for asking me to be part of this momentous moment in your lives together. I hope you had an amazing honeymoon in London! Thanks also to Dawn, my amazing second shooter, for your help at this wedding, as well as to the stellar vendors who helped to make this event spectacular.
